Jamie Carragher has joked about the awkward moment he was snubbed by his ‘good mate’ Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Manchester United‘s victory over Liverpool on Monday.
The Red Devils’ striker interrupted Sky Sports’ pitch-side coverage of the match, and greeted former team-mates Roy Keane and Gary Neville, before choosing to ignore Carragher.
The incident occurred as substitute Ronaldo came over to the pundits while Keane said ‘We need to see him out there doing his best.’

Sky host David Jones said ‘The main man is here tonight’, but was unable to get Cristiano to stop for an interview, as the 37-year-old went back to his warm-up, after a quick interaction with his two former team-mates.
Jones then said of the bizarre encounter: ‘Nice conversation with you, Jamie’, to which Carragher responded: ‘He totally blanked me!’
‘Just like most people do,’ Jones replied, leaving the panel in fits of laughter.
And the former Liverpool defender has poked fun at himself on Twitter after the game, writing: ‘Bad night from start to finish! Blanked by my good mate Ronaldo, Man Utd showing fight & quality & Liverpool all over the place!’

The 37-year-old’s ex team-mate Rio Ferdinand also took to social media in order to poke fun at Carragher. He wrote on Twitter ‘Cristiano absolutely blanking Carra there. Had you doing a 360 like the old days’.
It is unknown what prompted Ronaldo to opt to ignore the former Liverpool defender, however the pundit did touch on his omission from the side prior to the game.
Carragher said: ‘If I’m being honest, I don’t think ten Hag wants Ronaldo around the place. As soon as he’s got options, he’s put him on the bench. In two weeks time, I think he’ll be gone.’
