CBS News Miami reporter Samantha Rivera has revealed she has received death threats in the wake of stiff-arming a fan who attempted to get into her shot in a live broadcast.

The video went viral last week after she kept out the fan who attempted to disrupt her live standup report after Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

While receiving praise from her contemporaries and others, some have taken a different approach to Rivera’s quick reactions.

‘I’ve been getting an influx of hate messages/comments these past couple days,’ she tweeted Monday night.

‘And to those people, I’d like to ask if maybe now is a good time for you to move out of your mom’s basement?? Stay blessed.’

She later retweeted a quote from fellow journalist, Willie G Ramirez, who labeled the treatment of Rivera as ‘straight criminal.’

‘Just spent 15 minutes catching up with @JSamanthaRivera and to hear that she has been receiving death threats is straight criminal.

‘Take what you want out of context, but to threaten someone’s life over a tweet that came immediately after an emotional situation is ridiculous.’

On June 5, the rowdy Vegas fan attempted to force his way into her report – only for Rivera to keep him at bay.

‘Nope, nope, nope, that’s not the kind of fan you want to be,’ Rivera said as she shoved him away – never once breaking eye contact with the camera.

After the incident, Rivera posted a message addressing the fan’s outburst.

‘Listen, I don’t give a damn what team you’re rooting for – get the hell out of my face when I’m working and respect that I’m here to do my job.’

Rivera has continued to do so and is reporting live from Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals, with the Golden Knights looking to close out the series and claim the NHL’s ultimate prize.
