Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes Andre Onana is the right replacement for David de Gea but has warned fans to expect mistakes.
Long-time servant De Gea recently departed Old Trafford after 12 years at the club.
Despite picking up last season’s Premier League golden glove award Erik ten Hag has reportedly lost faith in the Spaniard due to his questionable ability with the ball at his feet.
The Dutchman likes his goalkeepers to play out from the back and isn’t confident De Gea can fulfil that role going forward.
However, Ten Hag believes he’s found just the man for the job in Onana.

The Inter Milan shot-stopper is an archetypal modern goalkeeper, who is comfortable with Ten Hag’s style of play having worked with him at former club Ajax.
Onana is noted for his composure on the ball and ticks all the boxes for what Ten Hag is looking for.
But Ferdinand is concerned that the Cameroonian’s willingness to goad opposition players into pressing him may lead to mistakes in the Premier League.
‘If Onana is coming in, I think he’s a fantastic signing,’ he said on the FIVE YouTube channel. ‘A huge talent and a real modern-day goalkeeper,
‘You see teams pressing him and he does not even panic. He gets the ball into him, brings on the press, says ‘come on, come to me’, and then when that player comes to him he knows there’s a player free somewhere else and he normally finds them.
‘I think there will be mistakes and playing that risky way, you do have mistakes and that happens.
‘But it’s about staying true to your beliefs, finding a right balance and remaining confident throughout those periods.
‘It’s interesting to see how this pans out, but I believe this is a deal that will be made at some point through this transfer window.’
Though Inter Milan are understood to want a fee closer to the £50m mark if they are to let their keeper go.
