Ryan Mason insists the Tottenham job is still an attractive one to the world’s best managers after the latest setback in their search for a manager.

Spurs have been without a permanent manager for two months since the sacking of Antonio Conte after Feyenoord manager Arne Slot turned down interest from the north Londoners to sign a new contract with the newly-crowned Dutch champions until 2026.

After qualifying for the Champions League last season, Spurs have slipped this term and need results to go there way on the final day of the season to qualify for Europe.

But current interim boss Mason is adamant Spurs retain their appeal.

He said: ‘Absolutely. Yes. Its [Spurs’] history. It’s Tottenham Hotspur, a big club not just for managers, coaches, for staff members, for players.

Anyone here should feel the privilege and the honour to represent the badge and if they don’t they shouldn’t be here. It’s as simple as that.’

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu is another name in the frame for the Spurs job following Slot’s withdrawal and when asked about the situation, having also been linked with Chelsea, he said: ‘And yet I’m still here. It doesn’t [come onto my radar].

‘I think anyone who knows me, I’ve been asked about these things plenty of times, know that what’s important for me is the here and now. I’ve never planned anything in my football career.

‘My ambitions right now are to enjoy tomorrow, have a good game, then try to win a cup final and try to make it a special year.

It’s not every year you get the opportunity to win a treble. If anyone thinks I’m thinking anything other than that, they don’t know me.’
