Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel would reportedly be open to taking over at Tottenham if Antonio Conte leaves.

The German was sacked by Chelsea last September and has been out of work since, but he is now ready to listen to offers from Europe’s top clubs.

With Conte’s future at Spurs uncertain, the Evening Standard reports that Tuchel would be interested in taking charge despite his affection for the Blues.

The Italian’s job has come under scrutiny following a poor run of performances and results – with Spurs most recently succumbing to a 2-0 defeat to their north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

Conte’s existing deal expires in the summer, though the club have the option of extending by 12 months.

However, there is an understanding from all parties that it would be self-defeating to activate the extension if their visions for the club are not aligned.

Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021 and remains a popular figure at Stamford Bridge – with Blues fans chanting his name during their recent defeat to Man City.

The German enjoyed living in London and was even linked with taking the England job after the World Cup, but the FA decided to keep their faith in Gareth Southgate.

It’s understood Tuchel is also learning Spanish, which would indicate a potential move to a club in LaLiga – a league he is yet to manage in.

The 49-year-old has previously worked in the Bundesliga – notably for Borussia Dortmund – and Ligue 1 with PSG before his move to the Premier League.

His tenure at Chelsea ended just 100 days into Todd Boehly’s ownership. Sportsmail reported at the time that Tuchel would being paid £13million as a severance package, with a further £2m going to his backroom staff.

After being sacked, an emotional Tuchel released a statement saying: ‘This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write – and it is one I hoped I would not need to do for many years.

‘I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

‘This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.

‘The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever.

‘I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart.’
