Tottenham‘s 2-0 victory over Marseille was marred by angry clashes towards the end of the game in north London.

Richarlison‘s second-half brace earned Antonio Conte‘s side all three points in their first Champions League outing since the 2019-20 season.

However, ugly scenes occurred at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with missiles thrown between supporters, a Pride banner was pulled down, and police were deployed to stop Marseille fans from approaching the home section.

A video posted by Twitter user Mitch Fretton, shows police blocking off Marseille supporters, while bottles and drinks were thrown between both sections.

He commented with the video: ‘Marseille fans kicking off towards full-time. Whole barrage of police deployed to stop them getting to the Spurs fans, drinks and bottles being thrown in all directions.’

A picture meanwhile showed that a flare had also been thrown into the Tottenham end which members of stadium staff had to deal with.

The trouble started in stoppage time as missiles were launched between the Marseille fans and some in the home section closest to them.

Marseille’s fans then proceeded to tear down a Pride flag that was hung inside the home end at the corner of the ground.

Police in riot gear came into the stadium after the final whistle and a smoke cannister was thrown into the stands.
