Twins shortstop Kyle Farmer has revealed he is ‘doing great’ following teeth realignment surgery after receiving a vicious blow to the face in the form of a 92mph fastball.
Sporting a split lip, Farmer posed in a video for Minnesota‘s social media channel, giving the fanbase an update on his health.
‘Hey Twins fans, thank you guys such much for your support. Wanted to let you know that I’m doing great and looking forward to get back on the field soon.’
Farmer suffered the injury April 12 while at-bat vs. the White Sox. He was hit below his helmet’s brim by Chicago pitcher Lucas Giolito, who immediately covered his own face in horror after seeing the impact.
Somehow, Farmer walked off the field under his own power after laying prone for several minutes as the Twins medical staff and manager, Rocco Baldelli, tended to him.

The 32-year-old needed surgery to have his teeth realigned but escaped without a fractured jaw.
‘Thank you to everyone who has reached out! Thankful that nothing is broken, but still very swollen,’ Farmer wrote on Instagram last week. ‘I can’t wait to get back out there with the guys and win some more games!’
The Twins placed shortstop Farmer, 32, on the 10-day injured list on Thursday but he is under no pressure to get back playing.
‘I don’t anticipate there being a timeline any time soon,’ Baldelli said. ‘We may have a general rough idea and then there’s the build back once he heals up.
‘He’s not going to be eating solid food for at least a little while, things like that that we´re going to have to work through.’
Currently in his first year in Minnesota, Farmer is best known for his four-year stint in Cincinnati, where he hit 30 home runs over the last two seasons.
The Atlanta native is a married father, who is currently on a one-year, $5.5 million deal with Minnesota.
He’s earned more than $10 million over his seven-year career, according to Spotrac.
