Tyson Fury has lashed out at the judges for ‘destroying Jack Catterall’s life’ in the wake of his controversial split decision defeat at the hands of Josh Taylor.

The duo met in their undisputed title fight late last month in Scotland, with Catterall delivering a formidable performance and looking odds-on to be crown the winner.

However, in a jaw-dropping shock, it was Taylor who emerged triumphant, having been handed a 114-111, 113-112 and 112-113 victory against the odds.

The scorecards quickly generated shockwaves across the boxing world, and the British Boxing Board of Control have now officially launched an investigation.

And now, WBC heavyweight titan Fury has also voiced his dismay.

‘I think the judging these days is a disgrace,’ he told BT Sport Boxing.

‘I think they need a good kick in the a**e for it.

‘They can’t change the decision now and they’ve absolutely destroyed Jack Catterall’s life and career. It’s disgraceful.’

Catterall even alleged there is corrupting in the sport, and said he has ‘lost respect’ for the BBBofC and is also rapidly ‘losing confidence’.

General secretary of the organisation, Robert Smith, was left ‘very surprised’ at the scoring from judge Ian John-Lewis.

John-Lewis will be called to explain why the fight was awarded to Taylor by 114-111.

‘I’ve got a lot of respect for Rob and the British Boxing Board, but I’m losing confidence in them now,’ Catterall told talkSPORT.

‘Robert Smith saying the fight was close – there’s not one other person, promoter, journalist, broadcaster, fight fan who even had it remotely close.

‘For him to say the fight was close, it just sickens me.

‘I don’t know what fight he was watching, we all saw the reaction ringside from the promoters, from Sky, from the commentators. It’s just sickening.’
