Vodafone and Three have announced a merger, bringing together two household names in the UK mobile phone network business.
In a deal announced on Wednesday, Vodafone said it and CK Hutchison, which owns Three, had entered into an agreement, with the former owning 51 per cent of the combined business.
Margherita Della Valle, Vodafone Group chief executive, said the merger of Vodafone UK would be “great for customers, great for the country and great for competition.”
Vodafone said millions of customers will enjoy a “better network experience” from day one of the deal, if it is approved by regulators.
The combined business will invest £11bn in the UK over ten years, it added.
