Leeds United have made early soundings about bringing Carlos Corberan back to Elland Road.
The West Bromwich Albion boss is understood to have a release clause of around £2million and is emerging as a contender to take over from Sam Allardyce.
Leeds have been in discussions over the past few days assessing the steps necessary to put the club back on track following relegation from the Premier League.
The terms of the proposed takeover by 49ers Enterprises are being revised, while owner Andrea Radrizzani has bought Italian club Sampdoria with business partners.
General staff at Leeds have been assured they won’t lose their jobs but there are expected to be plenty of changes on the football side at management and playing level.

Sam Allardyce (above) is set for crunch talks with Leeds regarding his future at the club
Leeds want a sporting director to succeed Victor Orta and their relationship with the manager will be key.
Allardyce is due to meet Leeds on Thursday to discuss whether he stays on and the club is assessing all options.
Corberan, 40, worked under Marcelo Bielsa as an assistant before leaving to take over Huddersfield Town then Olympiacos before becoming boss at West Brom. He knows Leeds well and has in depth knowledge of their younger players coming through also.
Leeds were keen to speak to Corberan when they sacked Jesse Marsch earlier this year but took too long and Albion stepped in to give him an improved contract. That deal incorporated a release clause though that also protects Albion’s investment.
Another former contender, the highly-rated Andoni Iraola, is also available as he departs Rayo Vallecano but the departed Orta was his strongest supporter.
