Will Jacks has been ruled out of the rest of the white-ball tour of Bangladesh with a thigh injury.

Surrey all-rounder Jacks dashed from England’s Test series in New Zealand, after being overlooked for the dramatic second match in Wellington, to complete a hat-trick of international debuts in six months last Wednesday.

The 24-year-old featured in both wins in Dhaka, in fact, having been identified as a contender for a World Cup place this year due to his combination of fierce hitting and rapidly-developing spin bowling.

But after feeling discomfort in Friday’s second encounter, he was ruled out of the series finale in Chittagong on Monday, which should lead to a first ODI cap for Leicestershire teenager Rehan Ahmed.

An ECB spokesperson said: ‘Will Jacks has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour of Bangladesh after suffering a left thigh injury while fielding during the second one-day international in Dhaka. Jacks will fly home in the next 48 hours to begin his recovery.’
