Willian refuses to celebrate against his former club after scoring for Fulham against Chelsea

Former Chelsea star Willian refused to celebrate on Sunday after opening the scoring for Fulham against his former club.

The 34-year-old got a shot off in the first half after a mistake from Lewis Hall, and it was deflected into the Chelsea net.

Rather than celebrating the finish, he held up his hands in respect to his former club and accepted the congratulations of his teammate.

Graham Potter‘s men equalised through Kalidou Koulibaly in the second half but are down to 10 men after Joao Felix was sent off.

Fulham later retook the lead after a first goal in 10 months for Carlos Vinicius.

Willian spent seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, and scored 63 goals in 339 games for the West London club.

 He won a number of trophies for them, including two Premier Leagues, an FA Cup and a Europa League.

Speaking before the game, the winger said: ‘If I have to score against them, I will score. I won’t celebrate, 

‘I have to respect them. I was there for seven years. But I will still play my hardest against them & do my best for Fulham.’

He was as good as his word after the event, and was praised by pundit Joe Cole on BT Sport for his first-half performance.
