Wolves are ‘interested’ in signing Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka as new boss Julen Lopetegui looks to strengthen his squad.

According to reports, Wan-Bissaka has been made surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and a move to Wolves could be beneficial for all parties.

United boss Erik ten Hag has played Wan-Bissaka for just four minutes in the Premier League this season and may look to cash in on the player in January.

According to the report, Wolves will face competition for the 25-year-old but have put themselves in the running for his signature.

Right-back has been a problem position for Wolves throughout the season with Jonny Castro Otto struggling with injuries and Nelson Semedo unable to recapture the form which earned him a move to Barcelona.

Wan-Bissaka would go some way in easing these problems whilst also adding his defensive attributes to a leaky Wolves backline.

The defender was a permanent fixture at Old Trafford under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and looked like nailing down his spot for years to come.

However, under Ten Hag, Portugal international Diogo Dalot has been preferred in the position.

Wolves currently find themselves rock-bottom of the Premier League table and a busy January is said to be on the cards.

As well as looking to shore up his defence, the Spanish boss is also in desperate need of goals – taking over a side who has struggled to take their chances.

Wolves return to competitive action following the World Cup with a home game in the Carabao Cup against League Two side Gillingham.

This fixture will serve as a good opportunity for Lopetegui to get minutes in his players’ legs before they return to fight relegation from the Premier League.
