Wolves ‘reject £17MILLION offer from Leeds for Hwang Hee-chan’

Leeds United have had an approach for Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan knocked back, according to reports.

Jesse Marsch’s side are in the market for a forward due to Patrick Bamford’s fitness issues over the past 12 months, plus Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder in the team’s 1-1 draw against Everton on Tuesday.

They have made their move for Hwang, proposing a £17m fee, but Wolves are not happy with the payment structure of the deal and want to keep the South Korean international, as reported by The Athletic.

Leeds’ approach for Hwang comes as little surprise after Marsch admitted that the 26-year-old was a transfer target following his side’s stalemate with Everton.

‘I know him very well, I like him, he knows our football. He’s on our list, I can tell you that,’ Marsch said.

Hwang played under Marsch briefly last year when the pair were at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Hwang joined Wolves last August on loan, and made a bright start at Molineux by scoring four times in his first six league matches.

This convinced the Midlands club to make his move a permanent one as they paid Leipzig £14m to secure his signature in January.

The forward has only score once since then, though, and his overall record stands at five goals in 36 appearances for Bruno Lage’s men.

This has not put Marsch off trying to sign him, though, and Leeds must now decide whether to return with an improved offer. 

They have also identified PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo as another possible option to bolster their attack.
