The University of Nebraska football team on Sunday announced the death of former player Cole Pensick from a car accident.

Pensick died in a single-vehicle crash, police told TMZ, early in the morning on Saturday.

‘Mourning the loss of one of our own,’ the official Nebraska football account wrote on Instagram and Twitter.

‘On behalf of the Nebraska Football program, our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends & teammates of former Husker lineman, Cole Pensick, who passed away yesterday at the age of 32.’

Police responded to a call at 6:42am after receiving a report for a 2022 Chevy Silverado that was driving between trees.

Pensick didn’t stop at a stop sign and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, cops determined.

Once police arrived, Pensick was pronounced dead the scene.

However, the crash is still under investigation.

Pensick joined Nebraska in 2009 as a true freshman and spent that season as a redshirt.

From there, he worked his way up the depth chart, playing in each of the next four seasons and making 12 starts his senior year.

He was 32 years old.
