When is Laura Woods starting at TNT after talkSPORT exit and what is her role?

Laura Woods has quit talkSPORT and she is set to join the newly launched TNT Sports ahead of the new season… but when is she starting, and what is her role?

Laura Woods has today confirmed that she will leave talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show and is in line to join newly-launched TNT Sport.

The organisation have announced that her last appearance will be on Wednesday, June 28 after hosting the show for three years.

Her role at talkSPORT has seen the presenter win multiple awards for her coverage, including Best Speech Breakfast Show at the ARIAS in 2021.

Woods looks set to take over Jake Humphrey at TNT Sports after he announced in May that he will be leaving his role as the main anchor at BT Sport after ten years.

With Woods set to leave talkSPORT’s Breakfast show, when is she starting at TNT Sport and what is her role? Mail Sport provides the answers below.

When is Laura Woods starting at TNT?

With Woods in line to make the switch to TNT Sports, she will likely start her role ahead of the new season, which is set to get underway in August.

TNT are planning to run four sports channels from July.

TNT Sports will take over BT’s existing portfolio of live rights, which includes two more seasons of Premier League matches, the next four years of Champions League fixtures and Premiership Rugby.

With the 2023-24 Premier League season set to get underway in August, the new Champions League campaign is set to kick off a month later, with Woods in contention to play a key role in presenting live matches.

What is her role?

Jake Humphrey announced in May that he will leave his role as main the anchor at BT Sport.

Humphrey, who has hosted the channel’s Premier League and Champions League coverage for a decade, revealed last month that he’ll soon be ‘stepping back’ from the position.

When BT Sport undergoes its rebrand, the broadcaster are hoping that Woods will take over TNT Sport’s coverage of the Champions League next season as the main presenter.

Mail Sport also revealed in May that TNT Sport want Woods to present Premier League coverage next season.

What Woods said about her departure?

Following the announcement, Woods released a statement to share her experiences on talkSPORT over the last three years.

‘You lot, our listeners, have given me so much comfort and guided me through some of my toughest moments, without even realising it,’ Woods said. ‘So I wanted to thank you personally for that. I will miss it dearly. Even the Spurs fans.

‘For what feels like a lifetime I’ve been a listener of talkSPORT. For the last six years it’s been my home, where we get to spend our mornings talking about sport. There’s nothing better. I know I will never find a job like this. It’s unique.

‘Three years as the host of this amazing breakfast show, three bits of silverware for the trophy cabinet and record listening figures. I’m very proud of what we achieved here. One thing’s for sure: I will always be part of this family at talkSPORT.’
